‘Who is the Woodwork Professor?’

Fung Che Kwan

Founder of Wing On Ho

It is the unforeseeable nature of life that makes it wonderful.

Originating from Nan Sha, China, Fung Che Kwan is an ambitious man with great brains and remarkable courage. Back in 1961, he had already set up his own business Wing On Ho dealing with ship equipment. It was through coincidence that Fung developed an interest in wood. He saw an opportunity in the unwanted wood from old vessels and turned them into functional and sturdy wooden buckets. This innovative recycling concept out-rivaled others and proved to be a brilliant idea, resulting in the establishment of a new product line for his company. Fung was later interviewed by the local television show “Today Hong Kong” and the press, wishing to showcase his wondrous talent of distinguishing different types of wood with his eyes blindfolded, and for his efforts and stunning achievements, he was praised as Woodwork Professor.

Woodwork Professor is not a title that can be academically achieved but through practice, experience, and grit. Practice makes perfect and permanent, and over the years, this is the distinctive style and trademark Woodwork Professor has developed into.
